How we started...
At Speech Spot LA, we believe that communication is about so much more than words. It’s about connection, confidence, relationships, and having the ability to express yourself and be understood.
Speech Spot LA was founded by Justine Mufson, M.A., CCC-SLP, after nearly a decade of working alongside children and families with a wide range of communication needs. Throughout her career, Justine saw how transformative speech therapy can be when children feel safe, understood, and genuinely excited to participate. She also saw the importance of looking beyond a child’s speech and language skills to understand the whole child—their interests, strengths, sensory needs, relationships, and unique way of experiencing the world.

That philosophy became the foundation for Speech Spot LA.
We take a child-led, relationship-based approach to therapy. We meet children where they are, follow their interests, get silly, play, move, and build genuine connection—all while thoughtfully targeting meaningful communication goals. Whether we’re working on early language, speech sounds, AAC, social communication, feeding, or orofacial myofunctional skills, our goal is to make therapy functional, engaging, and relevant to each child’s everyday life.
We also believe that parents and caregivers are an essential part of the therapy team. Through collaboration, parent coaching, and open communication, we help families feel confident carrying strategies beyond the therapy session and into their everyday routines.
